Stuck in the bag...

So he has had me stuck in that over-sized bag with all that other smelly ass equipment, and, it seems that I can only get out to play hockey or air out between games.... He has been doing the occasional pick up group and alternating Bison games with some punk kid with a plain blank mask, I have character.... I could go on an on about the life in the bag and skating, but I have bigger news...

So this past weekend while airing out in his apartment, I over hear that he is going to be bringing me some place special for Christmas.... He knows how much of a Boston Redsox fan I am, let's it out that we are going to be playing a game at Fenway Park... YES, that Fenway Park... I have never been there, mostly because they don't let hockey equipment into the park during baseball season, but I love watching it on TV. A little background on the playing hockey at Fenway Park... The Boston Bruins are playing the annual Winter Classic, an outdoor game played in a venue that is not built for hockey. On January 1st, 2010, they will be playing the Philadelphia Flyers. As part of this they are allowing organizations, at a huge cost, play on the ice. He is going to play with me on December 21st at 8 PM. The park will be open for people wanting to come watch me play, free admission and there will be concession stands open serving things like hot coco and coffee...

So I made him go shopping for something special to commemorate the occasion... I have hat to keep me warm while playing outside. A cool Redsox hat...

So its been a while since I have been able to get to the Rink, that guy has been busy.... I have been spending most of my time locked up in that smelly hockey bag.... But we have been getting to almost all of the Bison games, but as all of you know by now, I am only there for the beer after the games... I love having three beer salesmen on the hockey team...

I have been able to watch a game or two, and they even let me play in a couple to sub for the sieve that is playing for them for the summer... it was fun, but I did get my ass handed to me in one game... he hurt for days after wards... but the second game, I helped him post a shutout.... The Bison are in the White!!!

And are you ready for this... They won the summer championship... as underdogs they beat up on the local firefighters (Malden Fire) winning 5 - 3 netting a open net goal with a few seconds left on the clock... I was going to take the trophy home with me, but they thought it should not spend the winter locked away in that smelly hockey bag with me..

And here are the boys in the locker room after the win... some of them must have had dates or something... they were getting undressed awfully fast.... we are lucky they had this much on for the group picture... and believe me, that is SO not a pretty sight...

Then its off to the bar to celebrate... Pam at the Dockside is a little camera shy... We did run into some friends that I play for once in a while, the Bar Flies, at the bar, they were celebrating their summer championship in the upper division... our trophy is on the left, theirs is on the right... notice the taste in beer... now I know why they are called bar flies...

Don't forget to click on the adds, I don't get an allowance and he is thinking about charging me rent to stay in that smelly hockey bag....

Finally, some hockey

I know its been a while since my last post..... he has been working all the time.... but on the bright side of things, he has gone to see his old team (the Bison) play hockey and has even let me do some coaching... Here they try to score...

Lots of times its hard to watch them play.... they resemble a grade school soccer team some times... where they all chase after the puck all at the same time with no regard for position or defense... That and I think this dude got a penalty...

Here they seem to be doing better at the position thing... and I think they even scored on this one...

And on a positive note.... since I have been on the bench coaching... they have not lost a game... Me thinks its my fault, but he will try to take the credit for it...

Good News... Bad News...

OK... I have some good news... and some bad news.

He got a job and will be moving back to the Boston area in the next two weeks. What does this mean for me??? I will be playing hockey again soon, bearing witness to his impersonation of Swiss cheese and taking pucks to the head (too many in my opinion). I should be able to get some pictures of the new apartment and the area that he will be living, once he finds one, on here soon.

The bad news? he is talking about stuffing me back in that hockey bag.... That thing stinks....

Its been a while.....

Its been a while since my last blog entry, but I have been packed away for a bit while he looks for a job. That, and it has done nothing but rain here in central Maine since we got here. While it may be relaxing to just sit back and do nothing most of the day, it is getting a little monotonous and boring.

We need to do something constructive or goofy to break up the madness. While we look for that opportunity, I am going to try to make the most of it.... I am just going to kick back and jam to some old tunes on the iPod....

The Life of the Unemployed

So we arrived safely in Maine, which is a surprise considering the way that fool drives. And now that we have had a short time to recover from the trip, and get our bearings, it's time to get to work looking for work.

Here he has me looking for a job for him.... Funny, I don't see any listings for "Lazy Jerk" or "Free Cell Players".... But I should be able to find him something that will pay for my lifestyle...

Once the job hunting was done for the morning... he had me doing some of the chores that his family is asking him to do in exchange for staying with them, annoying them and eating all their food. And this pool needs some work before I swim in it....

But alas, the life of the unemployed.... Soaking up the rays....

Now if I can only get him to take me further than the back yard....

So we finally unloaded the moving truck into storage and returned it (not back across country, but locally). Once that was complete, then we packed to head to the cabin in Northwest Maine...

Here we are unpacking at the cabin.... had to use the chainsaw just to get to it... stupid wind in the winter knocks down too many trees...

The next morning we went to check out the beach after doing some work on the cabin's foundation, and noticed the Moose tracks on the beach... a calf and a cow moose... Looks like the bull moose had a productive fall...

After that we just relaxed a bit and tried to spot moose on the lake...

And we spotted some moose on the lake, but they were too far away for any good pictures...

And of course it got a little chilly that night and he made me split the wood for the wood stove... I STILL have blisters, but now the muscles I use for swinging my stick are much stronger...

Most of the next few days will be spent looking for a job, so we can start playing hockey again... I am starting to get out of shape...

So we only made it as far as Portsmouth NH on our way to Maine today.... a little over 13 1/2 hours of driving... I be thinking he is very tired....

Here, while somewhere in New York, I get to ride up front and this time I get to see what is going on...

BUT..... Little did I know... I think he is trying to get rid of me.... I am Canadian and here without a passport or a visa.... Notice the organization name on the side of the SUV... and here all this time
I thought we were tight....

That will do it for now.... I should have more later on....

A Cavalier on a Lake....

It used to be known as the Mistake on the Lake in the sports world... but as his sister-in-law informs me, that is no longer the case... With the Senior PGA Tour playing 8 blocks from their house, the Cavaliers playing in the NBA conference finals... This is no longer a mistake...

Only 6 hours of uneventful driving today.... I didn't even get out of the bag until his nieces wanted to take turns wearing me.. They are cute.... a little annoying at times, but what small child isn't... Here they are all goofy right before they start complaining that its too early for bed time... Sophie, Gracie and Zoe (from left to right)...

That will be enough for now... tomorrow Its a full day of driving and then another day after that...

Indiana.

Relaxed a little and spent more than 8 hours in a single place... We hung out with his niece and her husband in Indianapolis Indiana.... relaxed and watched a movie... I think he fell asleep half way though it...

Tonight, its Cleveland Ohio and the three headed blond monster called his nieces...

Here we are on the road... Day two... And I have to tell you that he is absolutely NUTS!!!! 15 hours or driving with no stops and 830 miles.... but I am still clear headed enough to make some observations...

Here, I noticed that even with gas prices going up, and the public still recovering from the $4 a gallon last summer, they still waste gas like I waste slap shots... easy and constant... (See the flame?)

But I am glad to say... not more than 100 miles away from the gas flame.... A Wind Farm... Someone there is starting to get it... .

Pronghorn Antelope.... Where the hell is my rifle when I need it....

This is either a really cool tribute to Wile E. Coyote or some one is paying the worlds largest dog to be a statue impersonator.....

Rosenblat Stadium in Omaha Nebraska.... The college World Series is played here...

This is the "Water Tower" for the town of York..... I don't remember if it was in Iowa or Nebraska... but don't they know what the Rainbow means????

So this is from a rest stop just west of Lincoln Nebraska... how convenient to have a place to dump the body right on the highway.... I wanted to go diving for body's, but he insisted on driving some more......

Some River in Iowa.... I am not sure what one it is.... I was getting sleepy by now...

That's is for say two..... off to Indianapolis to scare... er.... Play with baby Joel...

On the road....

So I made it out of Utah... I may have Kevlar in my shell, but you should see this guy drive.... I even had to put my seat belt on.... Tomorrow I think I should drive...

We did make it to a hotel in Rawlins Wyoming.... I got a chance to relax and catch some TV in the hotel..... then the cheap jerk wont spring for Porn...

But i guess i will survive... If you see this truck on the road, avoid it.... he drives like crap...

I should have some more pictures tomorrow.... hoping to make it to some where in eastern Iowa....

My First Adventure

OK... you caught me. Its not my first adventure. But I am now making them more public.

I am a Goalie's Hockey Mask. I protect my owner when he plays ho
ckey. Sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't, and sometimes he is a complete sieve.

He left his job in Utah today, and is heading back to Maine to be closer to his family.... and this time he is letting me come along for the ride instead of being stuffed in that smelly hockey bag...

Today he took me to work on his last day, notice he is making me work harder than he is...

But I did get to school him on the basket ball court..... he plays hockey... not hoops...

Then they took us out to eat at Fudrucker's.... They challenged me to eat the 1Lb Burger, but there is no way I could do it.... a couple of the gorillas were able to do it though...

But he did let me flirt with some of the young ladies at his last job... Notice BOTH grins....

It should be an interesting trip back to Maine.... I will keep everyone updated with photos and stories about the trip....
